Brooklyn-based no wave / post-punk band Gustaf have released a new single, ‘Close’, taken from their upcoming album, Package Pt. 2. It’s a track with something to prove: driving bass kicks in immediately, with sudden outbursts from a distorted guitar making the track’s edge known. A rigid, militant vocal delivery sits above motorik drums, keeping us in check until the angular assault of its energetic, punky conclusion. The band’s dizzying, modern sound has allowed them to head out on a UK tour this month alongside Yard Act. Package Pt. 2 is out on April 5th, 2024. Make sure to check it out. -Dan Peeke
